AYUTTHAYA II

Ayutthaya II is an exhibition that ran from 15 Jan-14 Feb 2021 held in the Ngee Ann Kongsi Galleries 1 & 2. The exhibition served as a part of the second hybrid academy exhibition 'Flagship Genius featuring Ayutthaya II'

RUINS OF AYUTTHAYA

This design draws inspiration from the formation of bricks and structures of temples in Ayutthaya. The different patches on the scarf can be interpreted in two ways, either as bricks piled together or as them falling apart. This is meant to represent the multiple restorations of Ayutthaya.

Various fabrics with rough-textured in white and warm colors were chosen to represent the architecture of Ayutthaya as well as its' multicultural background

Process

First

Layout the fabrics on a paper

Second

Sew the fabrics using paper underneath to keep the thread steady. Tear out the paper after.

Fourth

Sew linear lines to form random polygon shapes. Once that is done use a unpackers to unpick some parts of the shape
